Schumacher Elevator Announces Growth, Facility Expansion

Schumacher Elevator Company has begun construction on an expansion and renovation project at its facility on the north side of Denver, Iowa. The project will include a 15,400 sq. ft. addition to the manufacturing facility and a 7,200 sq. ft. addition to the office space. Furnishings and finishes of the current workspaces will be updated and overall layout will be adjusted for a more efficient and collaborative work environment.
“We’ve experienced steady and consistent growth, due in part to the capabilities of the current facility and getting all operations under one roof,” explained Jeff Schumacher. “We have also developed a solid reputation throughout the industry of producing a quality product. Expanding our facility will help us meet the growing demands of our customers and move our manufacturing capabilities to the next level.”
Schumacher Elevator built their current facility in 2000 at which time, six separate locations were consolidated into one. Since then, the company has more than tripled their sales volume and added nearly 100 employees.
The need for an expanded manufacturing facility was in part driven by a desire to streamline certain areas of production with a Robotic Structural Steel Fabrication System, also known as a CNC plasma machine. This machine will increase efficiency while also improving safety and reducing repetitive motion injuries. The manufacturing floor space will grow by over 30% and allow for routing the flow of components through the factory in the most efficient manner.
Emergent Architects led the design work of the building addition and renovation, and Cardinal Construction is the general contractor.
Completion of the project is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019.
