Marv & HElen Schumacher

President & Vice President of Administration Emeritus

Marv was the third generation to lead the family business, assuming the presidency in 1966. Helen worked as a teacher until she also joined the company in 1978.

Marv and Helen built the foundation for Schumacher Elevator Company to grow and prosper. In addition to a lifetime of dedication to the company, they remain active in their service to many charitable, community and industry organizations.

History

1936

> William and Bertha Schumacher found Wm. Schumacher & Sons
> William builds Schumacher Machine Shop in Denver

1937

> Company concentrates on freight elevators, lifting platforms, and dumbwaiters

1958

> William Schumacher retires
> Elmer and Earl Schumacher continue business
> Elmer Schumacher assumes presidency

1966

> Elmer Schumacher retires
> Marvin Schumacher assumes presidency

1970

> Company begins building cabs, platforms, and power units

1981

> Company begins building microprocessor controllers

1985

> Workforce grows to 66 employees

1986

> Acquire Polly Elevator Company (Sioux City, IA)
> Acquire Bender Ross (Omaha, NE)
> Begin manufacturing SPPE/manlifts

1992

> Acquire Capital Elevator (Madison, WI)

1993

> Jeff Schumacher assumes leadership role as CFO

2000

> Implement SAP
> Build new manufacturing plant and office facility in Denver, IA

2009

> Open Sales & Service branch in Eagan, MN

2014

> Workforce grows to 165 employees

2019

> Expand manufacturing and office facilities in Denver, IA

2021

> Open Sales & Service branch in Omaha, NE

2024

> Schumacher Elevator Company employs over 275 highly trained professionals throughout the Midwest covering sales, engineering, manufacturing, installation, modernization, and service
